Shasta Fire: Who are we?<\/strong><\/span>
\nWe are a community-based volunteer organization of 250+ members located in 18 Shasta County locations, including Big Bend<\/strong>.\u00a0 We are men and women just like you making a difference by supporting our community. \u00a0PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING!! \u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/strong><\/span>Shasta County Fire contracts with CAL FIRE to administer and integrate localized fire companies into one cohesive group.\u00a0 This provides a greater force of firefighters and equipment to respond to all types of emergencies throughout Shasta County.<\/p>\n

SCFD Volunteer Firefighters respond to various types of calls:<\/strong>

\n \u2022Wildland Fires<\/strong><\/span>
\n \u2022Vehicle Fires<\/strong><\/span>
\n \u2022Medical Aids<\/strong><\/span>
\n \u2022Traffic Accidents<\/strong><\/span>
\n \u2022Hazardous Materials Spills\"\"<\/a><\/strong><\/span>Training for Excellence:
\n<\/strong>Training is an integral part and foundation for an efficient and effective organization.\u00a0 Various skills are both learned and improved upon through continued education.<\/strong>
\nYOU can become a capable trained:
\n<\/em><\/span>~Firefighter
\n<\/strong>~First Responder<\/strong><\/span>
\n~Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)<\/strong><\/span>
\n~Fire Engine Operator<\/strong><\/span>
\n~Search and Rescue Responder<\/strong><\/span>

\nThese programs provide a partnership between volunteers and their own neighborhoods:

\n\u2022Fund raising for necessary equipment and supplies<\/strong><\/span>

PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING!! \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>When you make the commitment to be a Volunteer Firefighter, you will be helping yourself, your family, your community, and your forests!

\nHere are some of the other benefits and details:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u2022Shasta County pays for your training courses<\/em><\/span><\/strong> (plus drive time and lunch stipend)!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u2022Earn a stipend<\/strong><\/span> to help you devote the time: $12 ish per incident responded to, but if responding to Forest Fire or Wild fire for more than three hours volunteers are paid ($15-18\/hour).<\/div>\n

*<\/strong><\/span>Training takes about 140 hours of instruction (some is on the internet) to be a Full First Responder.
\n<\/strong>
\nShasta County’s First Responder training program consists of some introductory courses followed by ongoing training.<\/p>\n

\n\u2022EMR First -Aid with CPR<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u2022Fire Control 1, 2 & 3<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u2022Emergency Management\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u2022Haz Mat: Safely Managing Hazardous Materials<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u2022Automobile Extraction<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u2022Driving Rescue Unit

\n2. Take two driving classes

\n5. Cone driving test
